Giclée Fine Art Prints
Giclée Fine Art Prints are the highest quality of print reproductions taken from original artworks. Museums and Galleries use this technique to reproduce art works as closer as it possibly can be to the original piece.
The term 'giclée' is based on the French word gicleur, to squirt out, after the inkjet process.
Giclée printing use fade-resistant archival inks (pigment-based), adding more than 12 colour cartridges that improve the apparent colour range, allowing smoother gradient transitions and more accurate tones and textures.
The giclée is printed on high quality archival paper, which quality ensures the permanence of colours through out decades. For my Fine Art Prints I ask a professional printer provider to use cotton rag 305 grms archival paper, resulting in a smooth and elegant piece.
Gold Leaf Details
Some Giclée Fine Art prints can be 'de luxe', handmade decorated with gold leaf details as a personalized order.
In this way, each print, even if it is the reproduction of the same painting, has unique touches. As you can see the added details to the painting are not perfect, and this is related to the aesthetic japanese term 'wabi sabi': which is a world view about beauty that is 'imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete'.
Of course outer aspects are as well necessary to keep your giclée fine art print in good conditions, like taking care not to display it on direct sunlight for days or keep it in a temperature balanced room. Framing it with glass can provide extra care. For more framing ideas, check out this post.
Each print is signed with graphite, including a unique serial number.
For packaging purposes, I use tissue paper, which is free of acids and protects the print from grease or humidity.
